Found an old friend

I really like the internet. It enables us to connect to people we have lost touch with over the years.

I was able to connect recently with an old friend who moved away when we were back in school. He and I were best buds through junior high and then he was gone. Life moved on, but I always wondered what happened to him and how he fared in life.

Well, I was able to find out just that. I was on Facebook and through another friend managed to find him. Now that we are reconnected, we are going make sure we get together soon. Hopefully this summer. I am so very stoked about this and I cannot wait to see him.

A movie

I think I will take the wife and go see John Carter this weekend. I haven’t been to a movie in a long time and this one sounds good. There weren’t very many advertisements for it, because I certainly saw none. I heard about it through a friend that raved about it. He said something about a man from earth going to mars to fight in a martian civil war. We shall see.

So much to do

I am helping a friend move today. They have been having a hard time lately with the economy being so bad and decided to give up their house. They are moving in with his brother and his wife who are also having money issues. They have a larger house though and everyone will be able to fit better in his brothers house. I offered to give him a hand moving because I know what  a pain it is to have to do it all by yourself. He is going to need help with the larger furniture anyway.

Belated Holiday Greeting

Got a nice card from an old friend today, Lindsay. She apologized for being late with the cards but she has had a lot going on at her house, so she wrote a nice long letter and enclosed it with the card.

Her husband was on his way home from work a couple of weeks before Christmas and some woman with two little kids on the car ran a stop sign and broadsided him. He has been in the hospital in traction since the accident. To top it all off, the woman who hit him did not have insurance.Of course, his car was totalled. Thankfully he was driving a big Mercury or his injuries could have been a lot worse.

I feel really bad for Lindsay and her family. Just when you least expect it, something catastrophic like this happens and your whole world grinds to a halt. Of curse, she is lucky that no one was killed. But that is small comfort when your husband is lying in a hospital bed and not able to work for an unknown length of time.
