I really like the internet. It enables us to connect to people we have lost touch with over the years. I was able to connect recently with an old friend who moved away when we were back in school. He and I were best buds through junior high and then he was gone. Life moved on, but I always wondered what happened to him and how he fared in life. Well I was able to find out just that. I was on facebook and through another friend managed to find him. Now that we are reconnected, we are going make sure we get together soon. Hopefully this summer. I am so very stoked about this and I cannot wait to see him.

I have been noticing a trend in politics lately that is so not right. Politicians getting away with talking to people in a totally inappropriate manner on public Tv. There is no call for the kind of behavior that has been continually allowed to go on. I cannot understand how people can continue to vote for people who are like that. Why would anyone want them making laws that govern us with those kinds of mind sets? I just don’t get it.

I am amazed at the crazy weather we have had lately. This winter had barely any snow, but lots and lots of rain, and spring has already begun. Our springs lately have been fraught with hail, straight line winds and tornadoes. They have gotten more dangerous each year. I was watching the news and they said some people died today from tornadoes in Indiana. I worry about my family that lives throughout the heart land.

Most of the time I don’t comment on things like missing kids or domestic abuse things that make the news. I think a lot of that is over exposed in the media and does not help anyone, especially the families of those involved and suffering from the tragedies on top of all the media attention and dealing with the cops and everything.

But we did hear yesterday about a very sad case of two little boys that were killed by their father. Everyone is pretty sure that this guy killed his wife a couple of years ago. Why he was still allowed to see his kids in an unsecured setting makes no sense to me at all.

I think the courts and the Child Protective Services really failed those poor kids. What a horrible thing to happen – lose your mother and then be killed by your own father in an explosion that was meticulously planned and people even had warnings – he got rid of all the toys and wrote farewell emails to his pastor and a handful of other people.

This is a huge fail on so many levels.

Everyone knows that California is having huge financial problems as a state. There have been all kinds of government services cut or eliminated. Now the local government of the City of Oakland, California is considering closing 14 of its 18 public libraries. So the locals decided to have a little protest. A handful of protesters put on makeup and declared themselves to be zombies. The zombies marched along a main street in Oakland with signs about needing brains and libraries. It was pretty weird.

I believe the source has been changing over the years. It used to be radio, then TV, the daily newspapers and the internet. Not sure it was in that order – sorry. Anyway, I wonder if people count on the internet now more than any other sources?

With this heat wave, it gets very hard to be motivated enough to cut the grass and do other chores outdoors.

It seems that most of the country is having a very hot summer, with record setting high temperatures all along the East Coast and throughout the southeast. The temperature has been above 90 degrees since the third week of May. We may well set a new record for the number of consecutive days with temperatures above 90 degrees.
