Fireworks and Cannons no comments
I watched a rebroadcast of the concert on the National Mall and the fireworks in Washington, DC. They had the National Symphony play the 1812 Overture at the beginning of the fireworks display and had live cannons firing during the music with the fireworks overhead. It was inspiring. I would love to be there to hear that live, in person, one year.

Tonight is a great show downtown. One of the local guys who has had like 100 hit songs is playing at a little restaurant. It’s a tiny place that has great food and it can be hard to get a table if you get there at dinner time when they are having a show, too. The band sets up right in the dining room and every seat is great. I am heading down there in a few minutes to get a table. If I’m late, I hope there’s at least a spot at the bar. don’t want to miss the show just because I had to go to the bank and get gas this evening on my way home.

Saw Marty Stuart the other day at dinner. We were at the Sunset Grill, downtown. I love that place because the food is awesome AND they are open late for people who want something to eat after a show.
I just now got around to looking up Marty’s web site. I really dig this photo – the jacket looks like something my good friend, Manuel, custom made for Marty.

The benefit concert was tons more fun than I ever thought it would be. I was going as a sense of duty to my friend, Todd Cerney. But it turns out that we all had a rocking good time. I think we raised about $20,000 for Todd. I am kicking myself for not taking my camera with me – what was I thinking?
Todd Cerney Benefit Concert no comments
Heading out in a couple of hours for the benefit concert downtown. The money raised will help a songwriter pay his medical expenses while he is fighting cancer. His outlook is not all that good, but he has a lot of friends in the music business and I know they will all come out en force to support a fellow musician.
