Cloud Computing no comments
Does anyone have any experience with the new cloud computing? My boss told me look into it. He thinks it will be cheaper than having a network in our office and that it would make collaboration easier. I don’t think we can give up the office network though. We need it for emails, printing, etc. But I like the idea of accessing the cloud from anywhere – home, a hotel room, a business meeting off site, etc.
He wants to give it a trial run using word processing and spreadsheets. Then, if that works out, we can start trying databases applications and presentations. I think it is kinda cool that someone from that generation is embracing new concepts in computing.
Facebook Trolls no comments
There are people on Facebook who are not really people that I know but somehow became my Facebook friend. And then there are people that I went to school with, like Josh, and people who I used to work with, like Selena, who I was delighted to find on Facebook and add to my friend’s list.
There has been a guy trolling my page lately, liking my comments but never really saying anything. I don’t know this guy and wonder why is he liking my stuff? I am not all that witty or clever and this is starting to freak me out.
Photoblogs no comments
One of my friends told me about some photoblogs that she likes to check out. They are photographs taken all over the world and uploaded to a blog for others to see a snapshot of daily life in other places. She calls it her eye candy. So I got a list from her in my email and have been checking them out. Found some really good work out there – very impressed.
The recent shots are this site are amazing, check it out: http://moodaholic.com/
Fireworks and Cannons no comments
I watched a rebroadcast of the concert on the National Mall and the fireworks in Washington, DC. They had the National Symphony play the 1812 Overture at the beginning of the fireworks display and had live cannons firing during the music with the fireworks overhead. It was inspiring. I would love to be there to hear that live, in person, one year.
Grants and Loans no comments
Looks like I need to head back to school for a couple of semesters. All the job advancement opportunities require a degree and certifications that I don’t have. It’s not like I can’t do the work. They want the certification though. So I have to find a way to come up with the money to pay for the classes and give up most of my weeknights to study or attend classes.
