Patio

I am still working on the back patio. It is relatively slow going right now as I haven’t had a lot of free time. Work has gotten really crazy, plus the rain added to it hasn’t helped much. I have however bought the patio pavers I needed for out back and I am just waiting for the rain to let up so I can start to lay them down. I also have the landscape lighting installation to get done after wards, but I am not in a great hurry with that part yet. My wife is anxious to have it all done so she can plan a BBQ.

It will be done in time for Memorial Day though, that I am sure of. paving stone doesn’t take very long to put down and the lighting should only take about two days total. I have a friend coming in to help me with that part. Most of the back yard is already finished and this just needs to be done. I am sure that my wife will find other stuff to do to it over the summer. We are determined to have an oasis in our backyard for relaxing and entertaining in. I will be happy when it is done though.

Found and old friend

I really like the internet. It enables us to connect to people we have lost touch with over the years. I was able to connect recently with an old friend who moved away when we were back in school. He and I were best buds through junior high and then he was gone. Life moved on, but I always wondered what happened to him and how he fared in life. Well I was able to find out just that. I was on facebook and through another friend managed to find him. Now that we are reconnected, we are going make sure we get together soon. Hopefully this summer. I am so very stoked about this and I cannot wait to see him.

A little good out of bad

Well the problems that I was having with whomever was destroying my mailbox almost daily has ended but it had interesting effects on my neighbors. Now they all want whitehall mailboxes like mine. I actually find that a little humorous considering. The new topic of the neighborhood BBQ’s has become residential mailboxes. I could almost thank the person responsible had they not cost me so much money in such a short period of time. However, now that it has stopped, it is still the talk of the neighborhood.

That doesn’t really bother me though, because it has helped to spur my neighbors into doing a little sprucing up of their own houses, and right now mailboxes are on the top of the list. Whatever works is what I always say, so I am content at the moment. I am helping the little old lady down the street with hers. She is on a fixed income and I try to help her with any repairs she needs on her house. She expressed a liking for our new mailbox, so I decided to gift her with one. I will put it in at night so she can be surprised when she goes out the next day to check the mail.

New numbers

I bought some new numbers for the house, but they are on an address plaque. I found it on a website and liked it a lot. I had to show it to my wife first of course, but she agreed that this was exactly what we wanted on the house. I am ordering one for my mom and dad too. I think it will make a great Mother’s Day present, even if it is for both of them. I think they will like an address plaques for their own home.

Address signs make a house look distinguished, like the people are proud of their home. I have seen them around, but never knew where to buy them before. Now that I know, I can have some made as Christmas gifts for my family and friends. It is a much better gift, because it is something that takes a lot of thought and caring. I am sure that my wife will agree with that as she was charmed by them as much as I am.

Refinance

Well it looks like I am going to refinance the house. I need to lower our current rate and I was able to find a good place to go to do it. MortgageRefinanceRates.org seems to me to be the place to go. My best friend just refinanced his home with an adjustable mortgage and was able to lower his costs. I just really want to do it, so that I can have a little more money in the pocket, instead of out of it. My wife totally agrees with me on this, so it is not a problem. MortgageRefinanceRates.org will be a good tool for us to use in this instance.

Coldwell Banker is the real estate company we used to find our home, so I called our agent there and asked her about MRR as well and they highly recommended them. I am confident that they can handle our refinance without a problem. I am looking forward to getting this over and done with, so it is out of my hair and I can go on to my next project.

Caught a big one

I wasn’t out for very long fishing. I caught so many I said to hell with it and came home. After I cleaned the fish, I was going to freeze them, but my wife suggested we invite a few friends over for a small fish fry. She went to the store to buy a few extra things to go with the fish and I have to call the list of people we decided to invite. I am looking forward to this very much.

Dogs

I love animals, but I hate it when people don’t take care of their dogs and cats. They buy them or bring them home and then rely on everyone else to take care of them for them. I have a neighbor just like that. It is so annoying. He got together with his girlfriend and her 9 year old son had a small dog that he takes care of faithfully. Then, my neighbor brings home a dog that he and his ex had together and now makes the boy take care of it and the boy doesn’t want the dog. He has one already. This makes me so mad.

Phoenix Race

Well Denny Hamlin won the race at Phoenix. It was a close call, but in the end Harvick ran out of gas in the last lap. The race wasn’t quite as eventful as Daytona the week before, however it was a good race non the less. The standings are not surprising.

I hate moving

I know I volunteered, but I really hate moving. it is nothing short of a pain in the butt. I am going to take a long hot shower and soak away the dust and aches from my body, then I am going to veg out on the couch with a beer and the remote. The wife is still out with the girls and will be for a few more hours, so I have the house to myself for a little while. I will probably be sound asleep by the time she gets home.

I am helping a friend move today. They have been having a hard time lately with the economy being so bad and decided to give up their house. They are moving in with his brother and his wife who are also having money issues. They have a larger house though and everyone will be able to fit better in his brothers house. I offered to give him a hand moving because I know what a pain it is to have to do it all by yourself. He is going to need help with the larger furniture anyway.
