Super Bowl Party Plans

We are making plans for the big Super Bowl Party. My buddy, Jeremy, is having the party at his place. He has this really nice condo downtown with a big community room that can be used by the residents. He booked the party room, which is really sweet. It has a 52 inch flatscreen TV, theater seating and a full kitchen, bathrooms and even an area off to the side with a pool table. I love that party room better than any other friends with a man cave.

So the rest of us are pitching in to cover the food and beverages. I told him I would spring for a keg, pick it up and deliver it an hour before the game. My girlfriend, Janice, is going to cook about $100 worth of chicken wings and bring them on a huge platter with 4 different kinds of sauce. You know, you can get a lot of chicken wings if you buy them at the Sam’s Club and cook them yourself.

It’s probably going to be too cold to barbecue or grill anything. But we do need more food than just chicken wings. I hope someone bring s a party platter from Subway or something substantial. We are going to need good food to keep this party going.

Chillin With Dean

Spent today chilling with my buddy, Dean. It was a cold and rainy day and I just didn’t fell like doing much that couldn’t be put off until tomorrow – or next weekend. Dean happened to call and said he had a craving for buffalo wings. That was all I needed to here – I was outta here.

We went to the new restaurant called Buffalo Wild Wings. Its more than a sports bar – it has pretty good food. I like the huge selection of sauces they offer – no where else in town to pick from that many sauces for your wings.

Rowdy Night

At a restaurant last night, we made friends with people at both of the tables next to us. I don’t know why we got so friendly and rowdy. Everyone was just in a good mood. We had a lot of fun.

The odd thing about the whole thing – I’ve been rowdy plenty of times! – was that three of the ladies there were named Katelyn or Caitlyn or however you spell that name. I had no idea that Katelyn was such a popular name. And each of those ladies was gorgeous!

Steak for Dinner

If you want to have a steak for dinner, where do you go?

I like to grill steaks at home. I would buy the best steak I could find at Sam’s Club and take it home to cook it just right.

But if I had to go out to a restaurant to eat the best steak, I have a lot of choices here. The Morton’s is really good but a little uppity. I think that Longhorn actually has the best atmosphere, the best menu and the best bar.

So my pick is Longhorn. What’s yours?

Friday Night Music

Tonight is a great show downtown. One of the local guys who has had like 100 hit songs is playing at a little restaurant. It’s a tiny place that has great food and it can be hard to get a table if you get there at dinner time when they are having a show, too. The band sets up right in the dining room and every seat is great. I am heading down there in a few minutes to get a table. If I’m late, I hope there’s at least a spot at the bar. don’t want to miss the show just because I had to go to the bank and get gas this evening on my way home.

Fish and Chips

Got a packet of coupons and flyers in the mail today. The coupons for Captain Dee’s Seafood have caught my eye. Now I have a huge craving or fish and chips. I guess that’s where I’m heading for dinner tonight.

Cherry Limeade

When I go to Sonic, I order a cherry limeade. This is the best drink they have and you can’t find it anyplace else. Or so I thought. So I have to say that you can’t find it at any of the fast food places around here, because today I did find it someplace else. It was in a bottle at the Wonder Bread Outlet store. They have a refrigerated case by the checkout counter for people to buy a coke or a Dr. Pepper or whatever, and there was a bottle of cherry limeade in there. What a find!

Met a very cool chick today. Her name is Vicki and she’s from Alabama. She was in town for a convention and was having lunch at the little barbecue joint on Broadway where I like to go when I have a chance to go downtown at lunchtime. So we ended up standing in line together and I thought she was pretty and made a little small talk and next thing you know we sat together and exchanged phone numbers and . . . well, we’ll see what happens next!

Pizza Please

It’s been about a month since I’ve had a piece of pizza. That’s really unusual for me. There were times in college when I had pizza 3 or 4 times a week. Those guys would never believe that I actually cook at home and don’t eat pizza much any more. But I still crave the stuff every once in a while. So tonight I’ll be dining on pizza and beer – like the good old days.

Sweets for My Sweetheart

My wife is a big fan of gourmet chocolates. I had to hunt for a place to buy them for her this year. The store that I went to last year has gone out of business and closed. So I did a search on the internet and found another store across town. Nothing is too much trouble when it comes to getting my sweetheart her chocolates!
